The Mandalorian TV serial has taken the Star Wars universe – and its fans – by storm since information technology start released in 2022. Unsurprisingly, nosotros've had a swathe of Mando-themed merchandise popping upwards just nigh everywhere we go always since. You lot can't get in without seeing something with Infant Yoda's face on it (not that we're complaining almost that precious green child, listen).

To say how new he is to the universe, still, The Mandalorian has chop-chop become one of the most loved Star Wars characters. We might not see his face very often, just his armor – and his gruff phonation – is equally every bit iconic as anything else from the earth of Star Wars. It's no surprise then that Lego has expanded its long-running range of Star Wars sets to include a number of builds themed on The Mandalorian. We've had The Child, The Razor Crest, and a range of other playsets – merely we haven't had a true adult-focused set. Until now. The Mandalorian Helmet, a recreation of Din Djarin's helmet, is the first 18+ set based on the Disney+ show. Information technology'due south not very large and information technology's pretty moderately priced, but information technology'due south every bit every bit iconic as we hoped information technology would be.

If it's some other Lego Star Wars set you lot're interested in, head on over to our round–up of the best Lego Star Wars sets. Or perhaps it'southward news of the next Mando series y'all're after, so hither's everything we know about The Mandalorian season 3.

Lego Star Wars The Mandalorian Helmet review: Build

  • An enjoyable, methodical build
  • Excellent quality teaching booklet

Having finished building the Lego Star Wars Boba Fett Helmet only a couple of weeks agone, we expected The Mandalorian Helmet to feel somewhat samey. Afterward all, the ii character'due south helmets are practically identical in shape and design; it'south only their color scheme that differs. But nosotros couldn't have been more wrong. The Lego Star Wars The Mandalorian Helmet feels like an entirely new process. It's equally if in the two years since the Boba Fett Helmet was released that Lego'due south designers accept learned new techniques and discovered different, more than effective ways of edifice.

It's probably true: Lego as a company is 1 that's constantly evolving and learning. It's not that the design of Boba Fett did anything incorrect per se – in fact, nosotros praised that set up for its innovative building techniques besides – but The Mandalorian Helmet merely feels… better, somehow. In that location are no clunky, awkward parts to squeeze together, and no parts that experience unnatural or experimental. It all simply works, and it'southward a very enjoyable build from start to finish.

The Lego Star Wars The Mandalorian Helmet is separate across five bags, with each one taking roughly 15-20 minutes to consummate. If yous're a fast builder, yous'll be done in nigh an hour, merely we'd set up aside at least ninety minutes to give yourself time to savor and enjoy the process.

This is a systematic and logical build. Starting with the helmet's interior frame, you'll so move onto the top of the head, the base of operations, the sides, and and then finally the face. After completing bag 1, y'all'll exist difficult pushed to know what it is you're actually building. It's just a jumble of colored bricks. But don't worry, it all comes together fairly quickly. By pocketbook ii, when the acme of The Mandalorian's caput is consummate, there'll exist no doubt every bit to what the finished project is going to be. After each bag, you'll experience as though yous've made real progress in bringing Mando to life.

One of our complaints about Boba Fett's Helmet was the press of the instruction book equally it used dark colors printed on glossy, blackness pages. It made seeing the instructions in certain lite weather condition difficult at best. It seems Lego has heard our cries and thankfully The Mandalorian Helmet's booklet is printed on standard light-colored pages and is of seemingly proficient quality also. We never had an outcome discerning light gray pieces from nighttime gray pieces – a problem that regularly rears its head when building Lego.

Lego Star Wars The Mandalorian Helmet review: Blueprint

  • It'due south very grey
  • Use of curved and shiny bricks give much needed texture

When you've finished edifice the Lego Star Wars The Mandalorian Helmet, anyone who's seen the Disney+ series volition instantly recognize it. It's already so iconic. Even without Baby Yoda past his side, whatsoever Star Wars fan (or fifty-fifty casual viewer) will exist able to tell you who Mando is. And Lego has done a wonderful chore of capturing his beskar armor's features. From the detailing on each side of his head to the visor on his face, it's all here, and it all looks smashing.

Lego has employed a focal strip of shiny silver bricks to embellish The Mandalorian Helmet with some detail. It does a bang-up job of bringing the sea of low-cal and night gray bricks to life, but, of course, in actuality the entirety of Mando's helmet is shiny – it's made of metallic, after all. Simply that's not actually practical with Lego. Nosotros'd argue that too many shiny bricks would dampen the effect, and and then their careful application hither works well.

In case it's not obvious based on its design and the fact that it's an 18+ 'fabricated for adults' set, the Lego Star Wars The Mandalorian Helmet is not a playset. There are no moving parts, it has no 'swooshability' factor, and there'southward no real appeal to children who like to roleplay with their models after edifice. However, what information technology does make is a fantastic display piece.

Like all Lego helmets and busts before it, The Mandalorian Helmet comes with a built-in plinth complete with a display plaque (information technology reads "Lego Star Wars The Mandalorian"). If you've got other helmet sets, information technology sits perfectly aslope them, sharing the same footprint and roughly the same volume of infinite. And if this is the only ane you lot've got, it'll await great wherever you put it. Its colors blend into just near any environment, drawing just plenty attention without ever screaming "await at me!" Considering, let's face it, not everyone wants big, bricky Lego models all over their living room. But this one? We'd wager fifty-fifty the biggest naysayers would agree it makes a pleasant ornament.

Should y'all buy Lego Star Wars The Mandalorian Helmet?

Ask yourself two questions: Do you like Lego? Practice you like The Mandalorian? Answering yep to both makes the Lego Star Wars The Mandalorian Helmet an absolute no-brainer. This is a very bonny, understated model that just so happens to exist a lot of fun to build. The fact that it doesn't completely suspension the banking company, costing merely $60/£55, should make it even more appealing, too.

If you lot're more than in the market for a playset, or if you're purchasing a set for a younger Star Wars fan, in that location are undoubtedly better sets out at that place, like the Razor Crest, or the The Armorer'southward Mandalorian Forge (opens in new tab) – which just and so happens to exist less than half the price. However, if playability isn't a factor, yous will not be disappointed with the Lego Star Wars The Mandalorian Helmet.

Other Lego Star Wars sets to consider

If you like the idea of more Lego helmets similar this one, there are plenty to cull from. The Boba Fett Helmet makes the perfect companion piece, but there'due south also Darth Vader (opens in new tab), a Scout Trooper (opens in new tab), Luke Skywalker'southward Ruby-red Five Helmet (opens in new tab), and a Dark Trooper (opens in new tab). They're all similar in size and toll, and an array of them look fantastic when displayed together.

Elsewhere from the globe of The Mandalorian, you could opt for a buildable model of The Child, aka Grogu, aka Baby Yoda. We've already mentioned Mando's trusty ship, the Razor Crest, and at that place's besides the Mandalorian Starfighter (opens in new tab). And, coming to stores in June is the North-1 Starfighter (opens in new tab), the send that (spoilers!) Mando later on replaces the Razor Crest with.
